Thank you for visiting our website. Centered around the hugely talented and successful racehorse trainer Richard Guest and his assistant trainer Ron Thompson, Future Racing's reason for existence is to train winners both on the flat and National Hunt.
Following on from Richard's success as a flat and mainly National Hunt jockey with career highlights including winning the Champion Hurdle in 1989 on Beech Road and the Grand National in 2001 on Red Marauder, his riding talents have translated into success as a trainer notably with Our Armageddon who won the Cathcart Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and Tyneandtyneagain who achieved the magnificent feat of winning two major staying chases within a week, winning the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster and following up a week later in the Eider Chase at Newcastle carrying the burden of topweight. Richard is from a racing family and having spent his life in the industry working with the likes of Sir Michael Stoute, Sue and Harvey Smith and Toby Balding, it's not surprising that Richard's natural understanding of horses and the racing industry itself makes for a successful trainer. Having recently moved to Haggswood Racing Stables, Richard is assisted by Ron Thompson, himself a veteran jockey and trainer with over 50 years experience. When you visit the stables at Haggswood, the enthusiasm, experience and positivity surrounds you like no other stables - those factors lead to healthy, successful horses.
Richard's style as a trainer is to be “as one” with the horses, getting the best out of them through a mutual understanding and respect. He lets the horses be horses giving them time to relax in the fields after they've completed their morning training - the result is a happy, contented horse and a focused approach to maximising the potential of each and every horse at Haggswood. We hope you enjoy browsing our website but most importantly, give us a call so we can discuss our unique approach to training winning horses. |
